Japan buys 84% of its soda ash from the USA and 54% of its sodium bicarbonate from China. South Korea buys 93% of its sodium bicarbonate from China, and imports more of it than any Southeast Asian market. Saudi Arabia's soda ash comes mainly from Türkiye and Bulgaria.
