Do you provide Halal certification for food grade?
The producing plant, Inner Mongolia Berun Yingen Chemical Co., Ltd., is certified by IFRC (certificate IMICL-CH.25/090) to produce SINOTRONA soda ash and MALAN sodium bicarbonate as Halal products, valid to 23 September 2028. That is a plant certificate, not a Yizhou Chem certificate. A watermarked, view-only copy is on this page; the original is shown on request with an RFQ, and a copy goes with the shipping documents of every shipment. Whether a national halal authority in your market recognises this certificate is not confirmed and must be checked for your product. We confirm the certificate applies to the lot before any food-grade shipment.
Does Indonesia require halal certification for imported food-grade sodium bicarbonate?
From 18 October 2028 for imported food and beverages (Government Regulation 40/2026); it had been due in October 2026. Indonesia’s halal obligation comes from Law 33/2014 and Government Regulation 42/2024, administered by BPJPH. GR 40/2026, which amends GR 42/2024, sets that start date taking into account the completion of mutual recognition agreements on halal certificates, and extends the phase-in for chemical products to 17 October 2028. When the obligation applies, an imported product needs either a halal certificate from a foreign body that has a mutual recognition agreement with BPJPH, registered by BPJPH before the product is sold, or Indonesian certification. The government has also announced that it will revoke BPJPH Regulation 4/2026, which requires a pre-shipment halal check of imports; we found no published revocation by 24 October 2026. Do not assume the plant’s IFRC certificate is BPJPH-recognised: ask us, and check recognition for your product before you order.
